What is counselling, and how will it help me…
Counselling can be defined as a relatively short-term, interpersonal, theory-based process of helping persons who are fundamentally psychologically healthy resolve developmental and situational issues.
Counselling is about helping you to understand your feelings so that you can make decisions that are right for you. You can get help to develop the skills, which allow you to cope better with life. Counselling is about having time to talk things through in a relaxed way. Counselling is definitely not about telling you what to do, judging you for things you may have said or done, or making you feel uncomfortable.
So what do I need counselling for…
Frightening experiences, problems or uncertainties, can all be confusing and make it hard to find the peace of mind you are searching for.
Here some of the experiences I have encountered, and helped with, in the past:
Feeling there is no meaning in life
Stress at Work or Home
Losing your job
Bereavement of a loved one or a precious pet
Addiction to drugs/solvents/alcohol
Eating Disorders
Finding it hard to connect with those around you
Feeling lonely or rejected
Feeling lonely or rejected
Problems with relationships
Trauma or abuse, happening now or in the past
Problems with confidence and/or self-esteem
Feeling depressed, anxious and confused
